The Bhagavad Gita
By Attributed to Vyasa; many translations
Summary
Krishna's discourse to Arjuna on the battlefield. Three paths to liberation: karma yoga (detached action), bhakti yoga (devotion), jnana yoga (knowledge). The cosmic vision (Vishvarupa) reveals Krishna as the universal form containing all time and space — a "cosmic consciousness" experience. The Self (Atman) is birthless, deathless, and beyond the gunas.
Why It Matters
The most widely read and influential spiritual text in Indian tradition. Its treatment of karma yoga is relevant to consciousness-in-action (flow states, satori-in-action).
