About
Mission
Seekers Abode PL is a Consciousness Studies knowledge platform — the digital home for structured, accessible, interdisciplinary learning about consciousness. It bridges science (neuroscience, philosophy, quantum physics) and spirituality (Advaita, Buddhism, Kashmir Shaivism, contemplative traditions) in a way that honours both traditions with intellectual rigour.
The platform is built on three commitments:
- Rigour without gatekeeping — academic-calibre content accessible to educated non-specialists
- Every claim credited — no unattributed borrowing; copyright compliance is non-negotiable
- Open by default — free access to all content
Content Status
Entries in the library are labelled with their review status:
- 🟡 Seed — Imported from the Phase 1 Knowledge Inventory but not yet manually reviewed. Please cross-reference with the original source.
- 🟢 Reviewed — Manually verified by an editor.
- Featured — A deeply edited, showcased entry.
Seed entries are being reviewed and promoted to “reviewed” status over time.
Copyright & Citation Policy
Guiding Principle
We do not republish or host copyrighted full texts. We provide structured summaries, analysis, citations, and links to original sources. The platform is a knowledge concierge — pointing to the original, not replacing it.
Content Categories
| Category | What We Do | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Public Domain | May republish full text, quote freely | Ancient texts, works of authors deceased before 1966 (Descartes, Hume, Kant) |
| Open Access | Summarize, quote, link to OA source | CC-BY licensed articles, OA journal publications |
| Copyrighted | Summarize (3-5 lines), short quotes under fair dealing, link to source | Books, journal articles — all with full APA citations |
Fair Dealing (Indian Copyright Act 1957, Sec. 52)
Our use of copyrighted content falls under fair dealing for criticism or review (Sec. 52(1)(c)) and research or private study (Sec. 52(1)(a)). Key safeguards:
- Every entry includes a complete APA citation acknowledging the source
- We use short extracts only (never full chapters or articles)
- We add substantial original commentary (summaries, analysis, why-it-matters)
- We do not compete with the original market — we link to the source for purchase or access
- The platform is entirely free and non-commercial
Public Domain Determination
Under Indian copyright law, literary works enter the public domain 60 years after the author’s death, calculated from the beginning of the calendar year following death. Authors who died before 1966 are in the public domain in India (as of 2026).
Note: Russell (died 1970) and other 20th-century thinkers remain copyrighted in India until 2031. Modern translations of ancient texts are separately copyrighted based on the translator’s death date.
